Do you have a minimum project size?

Yes. Full-service projects start at $50,000 in total project budget, including construction, millwork and furnishings. That's the scale where a complete design process (concept, drawings, specifications and site visits) gives you the most value. For smaller questions, a design consultation is a good place to start.

How do you determine project pricing?

We calculate fees based on scope, complexity, and projected resources, then present a transparent proposal with an estimated range of Project Hours. Our Design Intent Management is always billed separately, after the Design Package is handed over.

What is the typical project timeline?

Engagements range from four weeks for focused audits to several months to even 1+ years for comprehensive transformation.

WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO BRING A DESIGNER TO THE PROJECT?

The earlier the better, and ideally months before you would like to begin construction. We are happy to discuss the project alongside your builders at the concept phase, so please reach out as early as possible. Design can take months to 1+ years in larger projects, so it’s important to account for that in your project timeline.

What areas does mackie interiors service?

The studio is in Roberts Creek on BC's Sunshine Coast. We take projects across the Sunshine Coast (Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Pender Harbour), the North Shore (North Vancouver and West Vancouver),Kitsilano, East Vancouver, and more Vancouver neighbourhoods. Concept and design meetings can happen virtually, and we're on site at key milestones.

What does full-service interior design include?

Five phases: onboarding (goals, timeline, budget), design concept, design development (technical drawings, renderings and finish selections), construction documents and specifications, then procurement, project management (design intent management) and possible installation support.

Deliverables include a full drawing and specification package.

Do you design custom millwork and cabinetry?

Yes, it's the heart of the studio. We draw kitchens, vanities, built-ins and furniture-grade millwork to fabrication level and work directly with the joiner, so what gets built matches what was designed.
